STATE OF ASTRONOMY FROM THE SITE OF MY RETIREMENT

Relentlessly, we have been pulling the timing sheets for the months of July and August. Summer holidays, so long that seemed to have already been stored in the memory file and again we are committed to the daily work routine. Wanted to write on the blog during the summer, but it happens that, as is customary for some years, I get up in a sort of retreat in the country house where I have the observatory. In this location do not have Internet, which helped greatly to make this even more monastic retreat if possible. These are days dedicated to family entertainment, enjoying the relaxing quiet days of good weather. Family outings and the occasional trip to the beach monopolize much of the time another holiday. However, during the night - oh! night, "my retirement becomes completely individualistic. After the sun set to produce an irresistible attraction towards the silhouette of the observatory that is clipped in the shadows proud. It is futile to fight fatigue and sleep: always just one under the dome.

has been an intense season in the observational, having seen almost all night. I enjoyed a few days with excellent seeing, yet not being the case, systematically, I decided to also look bad nights, windy nights, rough, opaque, moist, cloudy, with Moon. It may seem an unorthodox approach but still benefit and draw conclusions from these experiences help considerably a conocer la respuesta o el comportamiento del telescopio y la CCD.

Máxime teniendo I have in mind that even without reducing the images of 2009. Indeed, the measures did in 2008 will be published in an upcoming issue of JDSO on 1 October.

To end this little chronicle of my astronomical activities, commenting that, as an imminent, the views are already in the XIX Congress Astronomy State to be held next weekend in Madrid. There'll come, with my inseparable Rafael Benavides and Juan Luis González, giving a conference to publicize the project SEDA-WDS. There will be time to lift record of this event. Indeed, it appears that SEDA-WDS has been very well welcomed by the English amateur astronomers. We have already received the first list of measures and appear to be continuous drip of reports from now until December. Moreover, in late July due to the interest of my Argentine friends of the RAA, we had to SEDA-WDS to extend the southern hemisphere, suggesting a southern observing program, in particular, abandoned double Pisces Australis. Thus, the project is now international. Here I leave the southern logo.

To highlight the news that the USNO endorses and supports the project in whatever is necessary. Receive private communication of this fact in the words of Brian Mason (WDS administrator) who met the launch of SEDA-WDS through No. 5 in OED. For promoters of the project is proud to have the assistance and recognition of professional astronomers in Washington, it lays the groundwork for a serious and strong partnerships Pro-Am. Now we just need you to continue sending scientific measures to give substance to the project.

Many of those who pass by here I might see you on Friday in Madrid: yes, I've left the site of my retirement. Here.
